Random Thoughts--Towels

Good Morning!

Today I am going to talk about towels...yep, that is not such an exciting topic but it was for me this weekend. I have been married 11 years and many of our towels were gifts when we got married. Needless to say, they have had their better days! Anyway, when I got married, I wanted green and maroon towels for this bathroom and white ones for this bathroom, etc and I ended up with all these different colored towels...that cannot be washed together or I will end up with some lovely brownish towels! So, we decided we would splurge and buy new towels for the house and I wanted to get some good quality towel...soft, thick, durable....

So, I went to Kohl's this weekend and they were having a huge sale, so I felt every towel in that joint and came up with a low, middle, and high grade and then went for the mid-high grade...and ended up taking them all back the next day because my husband said "There were softer ones and they were only a dollar or two more? Get the softer ones!" So, I went back and for about $1.50 more (they were 50% off by the way), I got these FAB-U-LOUS Laura Ashley towels. These things are so soft that my son has been carrying one around as a blanket! When I took my first bath with one, I was so amazed at how soft and absorbent it was...man, this is the life. Now, I think these towels are normally $16.99 which is way more than I think I would ever spend on a bath towel, but I got them 50% off and I think there was an additional 10% off, so I paid $7 something...which my head still tells me is high but I like them so much I decided I didn't care...and my husband is really big on buying quality that will last...a lesson I am still learning because I like to save moolah!
So, pamper yourself and go buy a nice towel if you can....but warning--you may never go back to cheap towels!
Who loves ya? I do! Thanks for reading!

  1. Soft towels and like clean sheets. M-M-M-M. If I had a maid, I'd have a new towel every morning and clean sheets every night. cj

  2. I wish I had a maid too! My sheets are kind of middle of the road...I think if I tried the really nice ones, it might bankrupt me! :) I need to watch for another white sale!

  3. I know what you're talking about - I totally agree! Quality bath towels, high thread count sheets, nice, weighty 18/10 silverware - stuff like that makes for a nice quality of life. The old addage is true: it's the small things that make the difference. Like you, I go for the "good stuff" but always when it's on sale.

By the way, in response to your comment above, I buy my high thread count sheet SETS on QVC. They are phenomenal, the quality second to none, and are much less than the prices in the department stores. They have wonderful linens. I will never buy my linens elsewhere. If you sleep on them for 30 days and decide you don't like them, you can send them back for a full refund no questions asked. Just a thought

  4. Oh I had never thought to look to QVC for sheets...that is a GREAT idea! Thanks for the recomendation, I will have to go check them out...maybe even right now!

You are right, quality makes a huge difference. Its is a lesson I have learned over the past year or so. I have usually been a bargain shopper but did not pay too much attention to the quality, but now I combine the two and have been so pleased with what a difference those quality brands can make. Their reputation is there for a reason!

    Thanks again, great advice!
