Shepherd Boy

My little boy needs a shepherd costume for his Christmas Program on Friday at school. So, tonight I started to feel human again so I found some scrap fabric and threw together this little number. He was totally mezmerized with Thomas the Train while I was taking these pictures so he isn't paying any attention to me...figures!

He won't be wearing the red shirt underneath for the program, probably just a white t-shirt.

In this one he is playing the giant shepherd...notice the small sheep he has stolen from the Nativity and is holding in his hand....

He also will be singing "The Little Drummer Boy" with his class. I tried to practice it with him and promptly realized that the only words I know for sure are "Par rumpa-bum-bum." I would look that up and sing with him some except that I have absolutely no voice...I am totally hoarse and can barely be heard above a whisper, if I am lucky.

Heather said...: Yes, I am feeling better, but if you called my right now Robyn, you would say "Oh Heather, you sound awful!" because I have gotten that from everyone I have talked to today because I virtually have no voice left. I am lucky if I can even whisper. You know me, I hardly EVER talk anyway, so this is not a problem...okay, so I do talk some now and then....

Why Beautiful Basics?

Welcome!!
This is my blog about Beautiful Basics, the basic things that almost seem like lost arts, like baking bread or tatting lace. Its also a blog about little old me. Who am I? A southern girl with Texas roots and American pride who loves the views of Paris, a good art museum, and a good chicken fried steak...I also currently live in Australia.

For those of you who are LDS, I have also been encouraged to add ideas for Relief Society Activity Nights at church. Have you ever had one of those (what I call) revolving door callings? The calling that you keep getting over and over again...you can't figure out if you are good at it and that is why you keep getting called or if you are so bad at it that they keep thinking "maybe this time she will get it right!"? That is me with what was formerly knowns as HFPE. I keep getting called into it in some form or fashion over and over again. I love it when the Bishop or counselor extends the calling and then says " Are you familiar with the HFPE program?" or a similar statement....I just want to say...uh, yeah..remember about 6 months ago when I was in charge of it??!! :) Oh well, I must still have SOMETHING to learn from it! At this exact moment (I hate to jinks myself) I am actually in Primary and not HFPE. So, this is my blog, I hope you find great ideas here and some inspiration. For those in my ward, you will look at this and say...yep, went to that HFPE...so it may be nothing new to you but I also hope to post other ideas as well.
